Sai Kung River
Sai Kung River is located at the north of Sai Kung Town in the New Territories. It was channelized in 2009. It originates from Ma On Shan and Pyramid Hill and flows through the village areas of Sai Kung before entering the Sai Kung Sea.

Most of the watercourse embankments are lined with gabions which facilitate the colonization of vegetation. The upstream section is a semi-natural watercourse with riparian vegetation of native trees and herbaceous plants. Along the gabion walls, common herbaceous plants, grass, climbers and naturally established woody plants are found. Wetland plants are also found in the waterbody.

The grassland area is abandoned agricultural land located at the northern part of the survey area. This grassland retains water during rainy season. The habitat is dominated by common grass, wetland herb and isolated trees.

A small piece of agricultural land is located at the eastern part of the survey area. Common crops and fruit trees are planted.

The developed area includes the nearby villages. This habitat is mainly covered by planted vegetation, herbaceous plants, shrubs and small trees.

Open Field/Wasteland |
A waste ground is located within the villages adjacent to the upstream section of the river. This habitat is dominated by herbaceous vegetation and climber. Patches of woody plants are also found scattered over this area.
