Chapter 2   Innovation and Future

Bold and innovative, the DSD has been applying advanced research results to enhancing our sewage treatment and stormwater drainage services. Apart from assigning designated senior engineers to co-ordinate and conduct technological research and development projects, we have been organising the annual Research and Development Forum since 2006 where we join hands with various stakeholders to promote technological research and development of drainage technologies. For the past 30 years, apart from actively applying innovative technologies in various areas of drainage works (i.e. project design and construction; operation and maintenance; sewage treatment; and river revitalisation) to enhance flood prevention and sewage treatment services, the DSD has incorporated innovative ideas such as Blue-Green Drainage Infrastructure into its projects to create a better living environment for the general public.
