Weather Forecasting and Alert System
Due to the high risks involved in working within the reservoir, the project team has developed a weather forecasting and alert system that includes the installation of rain gauges and water level sensors at the construction site to real-time monitor the precipitation and the water level of the reservoir. The project team also collaborated with the Hong Kong Observatory to use artificial intelligence to predict rain movement. When heavy rainfall or rapid rise in water level of the reservoir was expected in a few hours, the system automatically issued a warning message to the project team, enabling them to promptly notify the frontline workers and evacuate the workers along with machinery to a safe location.
