Drainage Services Department

Drainage Services Department (DSD), in consultation with the Task Force on Harbourfront Developments on Hong Kong Island, decided to beautify the concrete wall of GMT Depot at Sai Wan Ho. In June 2019, DSD worked with a local artist for the mural painting on the depot external wall. The design and the mural was completed in early October 2019.

The design concept for the mural comes from the idea of blue-green infrastructure development. This echoes with DSD’s works in implementing different green elements in drainage channel improvement works. The enlarged indigenous species such as Black-faced Spoonbills, Romer’s Tree Frog, Great Egret and Hong Kong Newt, etc. which not only serve for educational purpose, but also can enhance the understanding of the community on river ecology, biodiversity and liveability.
