Relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to caverns - site preparation and access tunnel construction

Project Scope

The project scope includes

  1. site preparation works at the main access tunnel portal area including construction of the relevant retaining structures;
  2. construction of about 350 metres (m) of the main access tunnel leading to the proposed cavern complex at Nui Po Shan;
  3. construction of about 500 m of the access road leading to the proposed ventilation shaft; and
  4. ancillary works.
Major Improvements and Benefits

The first stage of the construction works for the relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works (STSTW) to caverns aims to improve the environment of the existing STSTW site and its surroundings and to release the existing site for housing and other beneficial uses.
