Drainage improvement works at North District – phase 1

Project Scope

The scope of the project comprises –
(a)   construction of an underground stormwater storage tank of approximately 10 000 cubic metres and a stormwater pumping station, construction of stormwater drains of about 2.5 kilometres (km) long with diameters ranging from 600 millimetres (mm) to 1.8 metres (m) and the associated electrical and mechanical facilities, and flood walls of about 500 m long and about 1 m tall at Kong Ha and Sha Tau Kok Town;
(b)   construction of drainage channels of about 60 m long and about 6 m wide and flood walls of about 130 m long and about 1 m tall at Shek Kiu Tau;
(c)   construction of drainage channels of about 530 m long with widths ranging from 450 mm to 600 mm and stormwater drains of about 550 m long with diameters ranging from 600 mm to 2.1 m at Hang Tau;
(d)   construction of stormwater drains of about 320 m with diameters ranging from 1.5 m to 1.95 m and flood walls of about 40 m long and 1 m tall at Kai Fong Garden; 
(e)   improvement of existing drainage channels of about 80 m long and about 2 m wide at Kwu Tung Road;
(f)   construction of flood walls of about 1.2 km long and about 1 m tall at Tin Ping Shan Tsuen near Man Kok Village, Sheung Shui Wai; and
(g)   carrying out ancillary works;

To enhance the drainage capacity in North District and reduce the flood risks of the areas concerned
