The project aims at providing public sewerage systems for 30 unsewered villages/areas in Sha Tin and Tai Po so as to improve the water quality in Tolo Harbour and the sanitary condition of these unsewered villages/areas.

Scope of works involves provision of sewerage to 4 unsewered in Sha Tin and 26 unsewered areas in Tai Po and extension of trunk sewer in Ma On Shan along Sai Sha Road from Pak Shek to Kei Ling Ha Lo Wai, to collect the sewage from the proposed sewered areas covered above and those areas near the trunk sewers, including Li Po Chun United World College, symphony Bay Villa Concerto, Symphony Bay Villa Phapsody, Holiday Centre for the Elderly and Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary, and convey it to Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works.
