Completion of about 200m long box culvert
200-long box culvert in operation
The construction of about 200m long box culvert under Choi Hung Road, at the section between the south of Shatin Pass Road and Tai Shing Street, has been completed and a major portion of river bed in the midstream section have been deepened. The drainage capacity of the Kai Tak River has been increased before the onset of this wet season.
To cope with the onset of wet season, we have implemented the following flood prevention measures to reduce the risk of flooding in the vicinity of Choi Hung Road.
- To construct additional surface cut-off drainage channels across Choi Hung Road, additional gullies and drainage chamber at Tseuk Luk Street, in order to reduce the risk of flooding during heavy rain and speed up the floodwater discharging to nearby drainage systems.
- To regularly check the existing road drains and carry out cleaning work to ensure proper function of the drains.
